Remembrance Day | Honouring canine companions

A time to look back and be thankful for all the sacrifices that have been made to protect our freedom.  As we take time to honor the men and women who have lost their lives, we need to remember as well our canine companions who have done the same. Dogs have played significant roles in protecting and saving soldier’s lives. Here are a few of their stories.

Lest We Forget

Stubby became the first War Dog Hero in history. Stubby was on the front lines of WW1 with the American troops.
Chips served bravely as a tank guard dog, traveling throughout Europe, Africa, and Italy with General Patton’s Seventh Army.
Nemo was a courageous dog in the vietnam war. Fighting side by side with his handler, he warded off Vietcong guerrillas and loyally saved his handler’s life.
Many people and animals lost their lives in the tragedy of 9/11.  These dogs are all heroes.
